The world belongs to the well-rested. The right pillow makes a valuable contribution to your fresh start to the day. Lay your head on one of our pillows, collect your thoughts, fill up with optimism and sink into your most beautiful dreams. We offer you modular pillows made of a wide variety of materials and in numerous shapes. This is how you will find your dream pillow.
Choose your favourite material
Since we humans also sweat and thus release moisture through our heads while sleeping, the components of the pillow should consist of natural materials on the one hand, while being breathable and moisture-regulating on the other. The combination of cotton and virgin sheep’s wool, or the plant-based alternative of cotton combined with linen, will be found particularly suitable for this purpose. With regard to hygiene and the prevention of rheumatic diseases, we recommend, based on years of experience, that down should be avoided. This is because down has an insulating function by nature, and has hardly any wicking properties.
Take sleeping position and bodily structure into account
If you like sleeping on your side, your pillow should be more voluminous. To ensure that your head and neck are well supported and in line with your spine, you should make a good estimate of your shoulder width. This will give you an idea of how high your pillow should be. When you try it out, check that your head and shoulders are straight.
If you prefer to lie on your back, you will need a normally filled pillow. When you try it out, make sure that your chin is at a natural distance from your breastbone - in other words, neither too far up nor too close to it.
And if you are a stomach sleeper, a flat pillow should be preferred or perhaps none at all. When trying it out, you should check that the cervical spine is not overstretched.
Choose your preferred pillow size
The variety of pillow sizes often makes it quite tricky to decide. A pillow should have an ergonomic and handy size so that it can be accommodated in your suitcase when travelling. A rather narrow pillow is the right choice for all sleeping positions. The shoulder should not rest on the pillow, nor should the pillow be so high at the head end that it throws the ergonomics out of balance. Of course, the standard Pfulmen size will look decorative in any context. The sizes 40 x 60, 40 x 80 or 50 x 70 cm meet ergonomic requirements.
In case of uncertainty, take advice and try it out.
If you are unsure which pillow you feel most comfortable with, have a consultation, and try it out, it’s worth the effort. That way, the new pillow won’t disappear into the cupboard with its predecessors after just a few weeks.
