It is soft, breathable, washable and absorbs up to 20 percent of its own weight in water. Environmentally friendly production.
Cotton is an ancient, cultivated plant from the mallow family. The cotton fibre, which is a natural fibre, is obtained from the seed hairs.
Compared to synthetic fibres, cotton is very absorbent and can absorb up to 65 percent of its weight in water. However, this makes it heavier, and it dries slowly. Cotton fabrics are considered very skin-friendly (they do not scratch), and their allergy potential is extremely low.
The outer shape of the cotton fibres is flat, twisted and loop-like. This makes it very tear-resistant, stretchable, and durable. Cotton is therefore particularly long-lasting, even with heavy use and frequent cleaning. This makes it ideal for the cloth in the Liforma spring unit. Depending on the application envisaged, it is possible to refine the cotton raw material through numerous work steps to such a high degree that it can finally achieve a silk-like appearance (e.g., satin or batiste), while still retaining its many other positive properties. For this reason, we also use cotton as a cover material for our duvets, pillows, and overlays.
As we only use cotton that is produced in a natural, environmentally friendly crop rotation, you can sleep with a clear conscience in a healthy bed climate.
Information on allergies
Allergic reactions to cotton are hardly known. People with so-called textile dermatitis – which manifests itself in pimples, reddening of the skin, eczema, or dandruff – are extremely rare, and show no reactions to our products. This is partly because we only use products certified according to ecological standards.
